welcome, jiban

Jiban Gurung has joined our team for the summer as an architectural intern through the Office of Community Investment and Infrastructure’s trainee-hiring program. 

The first in his family to attend college, Jiban’s learning journey brought him from a farming community in Gorkha, Nepal to Pokhara, where he studied civil engineering at Tribhuvan University Institute of Engineering Paschimanchal Campus; he then lived with relatives in California and attended the City College of San Francisco, and is now attending UC Berkeley. At Berkeley, he will be entering his fourth year in architecture at the College of Environmental Design.

His intention is to practice both engineering and architecture to fulfill his dreams as well as those of his father, who never had the opportunity to study engineering. We welcome Jiban to our team and hope we can all learn a lot from one another!
